Places to eat in Dartmouth
Start your gourmet adventure just a stone’s throw from Nethway Farm in the historic harbour town of Dartmouth where awards-winning eateries abound.
Cafe Alf Resco is the place for breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice and locally ground coffee served alongside an extensive brunch menu. Everything is freshly prepared in the open plan kitchen while you relax in the rustic French cafe style surroundings.
If you enjoy dining on delicious plates in historic surroundings then Bayards Cove Inn is for you. This is Dartmouth’s second oldest building and sits just back from the quayside where the Mayflower docked for repairs before sailing to America in 1620.
Choose from classic British favourites and exciting modern dishes that are fresh, local and support the West Country’s farmers, fishermen and growers.
Famed for Head Chef Elly Wentworth’s 6-course taster menu, The Angel is a must for anyone who enjoys an indulgent dining experience. In 2021 TripAdvisor recognised it as being among the top 10% of fine dining restaurants in the world.
The menu makes full use of the abundant larder on its doorstep including Devon spring water, artisan chocolate, small batch ales and lagers, and Devon grown mushrooms.
You can’t come to Devon without experiencing its seafood. And the top place to sample the fruits of the sea is The Seahorse. This award-winning restaurant on the Embankment in Dartmouth is run by South West chef Mitch Tonks. He’s also behind the Rockfish restaurants you’ll spot in Dartmouth, Brixham and Plymouth.
The menu changes daily as each dish depends on that day’s catch. Your lunch or dinner was still in the sea the day before. You can’t get fresher Devon dining than that!
Another restaurant not to be missed is Andria. Prepare for your taste buds will be wowed! Choose from a selection of classic small dishes from Europe & beyond, all produced using local produce and presented to the highest standard.
Restaurants in Brixham
If you’re dining on seafood in Devon there’s a very good chance it was landed in Brixham – one of the UK’s busiest fishing ports. However, it isn’t just known for its fish.
If you’re a sucker for sweet treats, then look no further than The Curious Kitchen in Brixham. Donuts are a speciality here with flavours and toppings changing each day.
You can order a box to take back to your cottage or eat in with a freshly brewed coffee or indulgent milkshake. A delicious array of Brunch, lunch dishes are also available, and deli picnic boxes are also available if you are on the go.
Does quayside dining take your fancy? Head to the nautically inspired Beamers restaurant for British dishes including fish landed just meters away.
Seafood is hand selected from Brixham’s fish market, ensuring only the finest, freshest goods are served in the restaurant. The menu also includes sumptuous West Country steaks, local meats, vegetarian dishes and delicious homemade desserts.
If you’re looking for something reminiscent of the Mediterranean then head to Albero for pizzas and tapas with a harbour view. The menu is the perfect fusion of fresh Devon produce with a twist of European culinary style. Visit for brunch or dinner.
