5 reasons why a holiday in Devon tops up your happy vibes
Can you smell that? Spring is in the air! And after what feels like a lifetime of winter maybe it’s time for a change of scenery. You need a holiday in Devon!
Of course we are a little biased, but there really is so much opportunity here to reconnect as a family, escape the hamster wheel of life and immerse yourselves in nature.
Here’s five reasons why the South West is the very best place for a staycation in 2023, especially if you need to top up your feel good vibes:
Slow down time
If your head is spinning itself into a tangle of work, school and social commitments it’s a sign that you need to step away from your chaotic calendar.
What better place to do this than Devon where you’ll feel the pressure of the daily grind slip away as you immerse yourselves in scenic landscapes and charming towns where a slower pace of life comes as standard.
If you’ve already visited us here at Nethway Farm you’ll know that our holiday cottages are located in a hidden valley in the beautiful South Hams. Not only that, we have a secluded sandy beach just a mile away.
Grab this excellent excuse to stop clock-watching, park the car for a few days and take advantage of Devon’s coast and countryside.
Enjoy nature’s playground
Speaking of nature, we think it’s the very best playground for kids.
Step outside and soak up relaxed vibes beside the sea or re-energise yourselves with a stomp through the moors during your holiday in Devon.
We love seeing our guests enjoying local walks and gardens like the National Trust’s Coleton Fishacre and Greenway, which are on our doorstep.
On the farm we also have a trim trail, woodland paths and mud kitchen to entertain our youngest guests.

Meet the season’s new arrivals
Springtime is an incredible season to visit Devon. It’s one of the first places in the UK to see spring flowers like cherry blossom and bluebells, and to catch a delicious whiff of wild garlic growing in the hedgerows.
That’s not to mention the bouncing lambs, and fluffy chicks arriving all over the county.
At Nethway Farm you can meet and feed our hungry goats, lambs and ponies. Our land is also home to plenty of wildlife including insects and birds who love our orchard.
Indulge in local treats
An essential ingredient for a relaxing holiday is good food and drink. And there’s plenty to be found in Devon.
From cream teas and artisan tipples to freshly landed fish in Brixham, your taste buds are in for a treat.
You can also put a pin in any arguments about who is washing up and book a table at one of our many Michelin star restaurants.
We take it upon ourselves to try local produce and eat at South Devon restaurants to make sure we can give our guests the best recommendations. It’s a tough job, but someone has got to do it.

Say ‘yes’ to family time
Allowing yourself some headspace naturally gives way to saying yes to the things that really matter. Like making memories with your loved ones.
Say yes to luxuriously long walks. Yes to sitting for hours on a harbour wall to see who can catch the largest crab. And yes to indulging in a well-earned local ice cream.
Nethway Farm has all the ingredients for special family time – an indoor pool, games room and soft play for little ones – so you don’t even need to go far to give your children a yes day.
Close by there’s also a great selection of family attractions and free places to visit.
If these memory-making reasons to holiday in Devon have given you food for thought why not book a break with us at Nethway Farm Cottages? We now offer short breaks outside the main holiday season. Whatever time you can spare from your daily lives, you’ll be topping up your reserves of feel good vibes for the rest of the year.
