We love dogs here at Nethway Farm, so we know that no family holiday is complete without your canine chums! There are so many opportunities to visit local attractions, explore the area and get out in nature on sandy beaches or walking through woodland, all with your canine companion by your side.

The South West Coast Path is the longest National Trail in the UK, and boasts the most spectacular views! Less than a mile away and with so many different routes to take, it’s definitely a walk you’ll want to do during your stay! Photo taken from the South West Coast Path website.

Coleton Fishacre is a 1920s country house with beautiful gardens that look out to a gorgeous sea view. Dogs are very welcome here when on a lead, and there’s plenty of water bowls around for thirsty pooches to use! Only a few miles away from Nethway Farm and Holiday Cottages is Waterhead Creek; a very picturesque circular walk of up to 3 miles. Keep an eye out for wildlife along the river Dart and stretch your legs through the woodland with your dog.

Man Sands is a dog-friendly beach only a stone’s throw from us! It’s perfect for letting your dog off the lead and stretching your legs. It’s also a great site for rockpooling, picnics and more.

Take a glimpse into the holiday home of the famous and much-loved author Agatha Christie and her family. The relaxed and atmospheric house is set in the 1950s, and contains many of the family’s collections, including archaeology, Tunbridgeware, silver, botanical china and books. Outside you can explore the large and romantic woodland garden, with a restored vinery, wild edges and rare plantings, which drifts down the hillside towards the sparkling Dart estuary. Dartmouth castle is located right on the Dart Estuary and offers stunning views out to sea. There’s plenty to do inside and outside of the castle, and it’s also right next to the South West Coastal Path which makes it a perfect pitstop whilst exploring the coast.

If you’re looking to do some wildlife spotting, there’s few places in the south west better than Berry Head Nature Reserve. There’s plenty of coastal walks to enjoy nearby, and the award-winning Guardhouse Café is worth a visit too.

Labrador Bay is a beautiful coastal reserve near Shaldon, and offers stunning views over Lyme Bay. Perfect for birdwatching, you may also see other animals and marine life, including basking sharks if you’re lucky! The reserve extends along about 2km of the spectacular coastline, and there’s plenty of cafes, restaurants and pubs nearby. Definitely one to visit!

At Nethway Farm, we believe holidays are better when your dog can join in the fun. That’s why we welcome well-behaved pups in three of our cottages. They’ll have acres of farmland to sniff and explore, an off-lead field to run free, and plenty of local walks and dog-friendly beaches to enjoy all year round. From 1 November, every beach nearby is open to dogs — and when you arrive, a welcome box of treats will be waiting to make them feel right at home.
