Welcome to Nethway Farm holiday cottages, you will find our five cottages in a hidden valley in the heart of the South Hams in the beautiful Devon countryside. We are a mile inland from the sandy beaches of the south coast. Hidden yet so close to all the major attractions this area has to offer.

Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty only a mile from the south west coast footpath. Surrounded by rolling hills and pretty woodland our farm offers a tranquil relaxing place to stay.

Ours is a child friendly farm with excellent facilities for all the family, including a heated indoor swimming pool, games room, and indoor play room and large wooden outside play area.

Further afield the farm has a fishing lake with roach, bream and carp in a truly tranquil setting away from it all. There are many walks around the farm or on to the coastal foot path. There is an abundance of wildlife to be seen for those who are patient, badgers, deer and many birds including the elusive cuckoo and a nesting pair of kingfishers.

There are many local pretty towns and villages to visit. Attractions for the family are Paignton zoo, Penny well farm, Babbacombe model village and the steam railway are all very easily reached for days out. The local towns of Dartmouth and Totnes are particularly worth a visit both vibrant and unique. There are many different excursions on the river Dart to take in this beautiful river. Coleton Fishacre, a national trust property is situated half a mile along the lane and Agatha Christie’s Green Way is a lovely place to spend a day.

For the beach lover there are many sandy beaches to walk or drive to, all in a very short drive from the farm, some are secluded hidden coves some are busy family beaches.

This area is welcoming to dogs with many walks through woods and on the dog friendly beaches.

Golf, sea fishing and walking are all popular outdoor activities.

The cottages

Our five high quality self-catering cottages have been converted from old farm buildings which belonged to the grade 2 listed Nethway house when it was all one large estate. William of Orange is reputed to have stayed there on route North. It also has strong associations with local smugglers which were big in these parts.

They have been converted with a mind to the quirks that old buildings have, using slate, old cobble and stone and retaining some beams where possible. The gardens are set around brick paths and each cottage has its own patio with seating and parasols, Lovage and Hyssop cottage have their own enclosed gardens. Many pots and basket’s provide an abundance of colour all year round.

All the cottages have a log burner with logs supplied this makes them perfect all year round, cosily heated in the winter. Christmas and New year the cottages are festively decorated and provide a magical get away.

Hyssop, Lovage & Meadowsweet cottages welcome well behaved dogs as they have their own enclosed gardens / Patio areas.

The cottages are all child friendly with stair gates, full sized cots and high chairs, we also provide other little extras like bed guards, cutlery and dishes and a toddler pack for those things you may forget no need to pack the car with all the little stuff we have spares of everything you might need for your toddler. Outside we provide ride on tractors and encourage you to wander the farm and enjoy interacting with animals in a safe environment.

The Farm

We have 35 acres of land and 10 acres of woodland on which runs a flock of sheep. Closer to hand we have Kune kune pigs which are particularly friendly and like nothing better than a chat and food of course. Goats, falabella ponies, Dartmoor ponies and donkeys are all to be found also. From time to time we rehome various waifs and strays most of whom ending up staying forever! The animals are all friendly and enjoy being petted and fussed over.

The Swimming Pool

We keep our heated swimming pool open all year constantly heated to 28 degrees Celsius it is warm and child friendly. Perfect for those who may be timid and are learning to swim. The pool is accessed via a key coded door for safety reasons.
